The town bastions in Sabinov were part of the defensive system that complemented the stone walls. They were built in the 15th century, when Sabinov was an important royal town and trade centre.
They served as guard and defensive posts. From the bastions, defenders could watch the surroundings, the gates and the most vulnerable parts of the fortifications.
