The Statue of Sabina is one of the town’s most distinctive symbols. It recalls the legend of brave Sabina, after whom the town is said to have been named.
According to the legend, Sabina saved Hungarian King Béla IV as he fled the Tatars across the swollen Torysa river. The statue captures the moment of help and symbolises courage, selflessness and humanity.
