The Shop on Main Street is one of the most important works of Czechoslovak cinema. It was based on a novella by Ladislav Grosman and is set during the Second World War.
Sabinov played an important role in the film as an authentic historic setting. Today it is remembered through a film exhibition, a replica of Mrs Lautmann’s shop, the Oscar statue, the statue of Tóno Brtko and the Oscar walkway.
